What happens during a chiropractic treatment?
Your first visit will begin with a brief health history as well as information about your current condition and the problem you’re having. Dr. DiCesaro considers your whole lifestyle picture when evaluating your condition so he may ask questions about your home or work life and physical activity, or the sequence of events that occurred in an accident.
He will then conduct a physical, neurological, and/or orthopedic examination in order to confirm that your condition will respond successfully to chiropractic treatment. He’ll observe your posture, range of motion, and note any movement that causes pain. If the examination reveals severe symptoms that indicate a possible serious condition, such as a tumor or infection, he may recommend diagnostic imaging, such as x-ray, MRI, or CT scan in order to confirm or rule this out.
If your condition cannot be treated successfully with chiropractic, Dr. DiCesaro will explain the situation to you. With fifteen years experience evaluating patient conditions, Dr. DiCesaro is able to recognize risk factors as well as individual disease patterns and will not hesitate to make a referral to a medical doctor when it is in the best interest of your health.
During his evaluation, Dr. DiCesaro will determine the best treatment for your condition. He’ll explain his observations so you understand what’s causing your condition and what you can do to prevent it happening again in the future. He may use chiropractic treatment only, or he may integrate one of many other modalities to help with soft tissue injury.
When applying a chiropractic adjustment or spinal decompression, Dr. DiCesaro will manipulate your spine or other joints, gently with his hands, in order to return them to normal function. He may also apply any heat treatment or cryotherapy, or apply vibratory massage therapy that may be needed at the time. Chiropractic adjustment is a skillfully controlled procedure that is adapted to meet your specific condition. During a chiropractic adjustment you may hear a slight popping sound as pressure within the joint adjusts, but you should feel no discomfort.
